I was recently given the opportunity to review a Kong dog toy from EntirelyPets.com for my two rambunctious 3-month-old Pit Bull puppies, Tyson and Crook. Kong toys are widely used for therapy and prevention of boredom, separation anxiety, and other behavioral issues. They are 100% safe, high quality, and durable. I chose to review the Kong Dental Stick because it is not just a toy but also a dental toy that can improve oral health. It's unique design will clean your dog's back teeth while your dog plays. Did you know that dental and gum disease is the number one health problem diagnosed by veterinarians and over 80% of all doges over the age of 2 have some form of periodontal disease, which left untreated can cause pain, bad breath, tooth loss, and infections that can lead to serious heart and liver disease? I initially just wanted a dental toy to combat bad breath but now knowing these facts, I believe dental toys will essentially keep my dogs healthier. If you want your dogs teeth to be extra clean, the Kong Dental Stick is made so that you can put dog toothpaste or Kong Stuff'N inside the grooves. The hollow center of the toy can also be filled with food or treats.

The Kong Dental Stick is soft and slightly flexible. It is extremely durable and can withstand not one but two puppies chewing on it, sometimes at the same time. My puppies are only 3 months old so they don't have a lot of toys yet but the ones they do have don't seem to keep their attention for very long. I was pleasantly surprised when they seemed to absolutely LOVE the Kong Dental Stick. My biggest dog Tyson (above left), was the first to get his hands (or in this case it would be more appropriate to say mouth) on the toy. He immediately tried running away so he could have it all to himself but my other dog Crook (above right) wasn't having it. He wanted to play with it too so he tried to wrestle it away from Tyson. Eventually though, being the good brothers that they are, they both decided it would be better to share.

I love the fact that this toy can keep their attention for 15-20 minutes at a time, which means a little peace and quite for me. When they are chewing on it, I can actually hear their teeth rubbing against it, letting me know that it is doing its job. After a few days of playing with it, Tyson and Crook's toy still looks pretty great. There are a few bite marks on it, which are to be expected, but no pieces have torn off. I think it is holding up really. I don't have any pet toothpaste yet to put into the grooves but I think this is a really great feature. My pups give me a hard enough time during bath time and I can only imagine they would do the same when trying to brush their teeth. This toy will definitely make keeping their teeth clean a lot easier. I'm very, very impressed with this Kong toy and I will continue to purchase Kong toys for my pups in the future.
