Duraflame Ceramic Desktop Heater Review and Giveaway

**Disclosure:  I was provided with a free Duraflame Ceramic Desktop Heater from Twin-Star International in order to perform this review. I received no other form of compensation. All opinions expressed here are my own. I was not influenced in any way.**

Most people have heard of the internationally renowned Duraflame brand. Duraflame has been offering a wide variety of heating products for over 40 years now, including ceramic desktop heaters, ceramic oscillating tower heaters, dual quartz tower heaters, milk house heaters, oil filled heaters, parabolic heaters, micathermic heaters, electric stoves, in-fireplace inserts, and infra-quartz radiant heaters. But have you also heard of Twin-Star International? Twin-Star, founded in 1996, is an award winning home furnishings manufacturer providing classic furniture designs crafted with old fashion care and attention. Twin-Star is passionate about the products which carry its name and in 2009 they acquired an exclusive license from Duraflame Incorporated to manufacture electrical heating products under the Duraflame brand name.

I work with about 10 other women in an office that is broken up into three sections. Strangely, the temperature in each section is different and we can never find a happy medium when it comes to what the thermostat in our office should be set on. Some like the temperature to be a bit on the cooler side year round (low to mid 60s) while others, like myself, prefer the temperature a bit warmer (high 60s to low 70s). As you can imagine, this frustrates everyone in our office and someone always seems to be changing the thermostat. Our very old heating/cooling system only adds to our frustration because sometimes it breaks down and depending on what time of year it is the temperature in our office could be either in the 50s or the 90s. This has happened more times than I can count. For the days that it's cold in the office, I do have an under the desk heater but it isn't very powerful and barely manages to keep just my feet and toes warm. To keep my upper body warm, I just have to wear extra layers of clothes. There's not much I can do for my hands though. I type for a living and I cannot do that with gloves on but I also cannot do it with my hands feeling like ice-sickles. Have you ever tried to type with your hands this cold? So you can imagine how excited I was when I was given the opportunity to review a Duraflame Ceramic Desktop Heater from Twin-Star International.

The Duraflame Ceramic Desktop Heater has many great features. It has two heat settings and also a fan only mode. It has an adjustable thermostat. It has a durable powder coated steel grill making it more heat resistant than plastic and it also gives it a nice two-tone finish. It has an overheat protection device so it instantly shuts off before becoming overheated. It also has a tip over safety switch which will automatically disengage the heater should it ever get knocked over. I found out this feature works when I decided to move the position of the heater while it was on. As soon as I picked up the heater to move it, it automatically shut off. This is a wonderful safety feature. It also comes with a one year limited warranty. It weighs 3.57 pounds and measures 7.87 x 5.71 x 10.83 inches.

The Duraflame Ceramic Desktop Heater is the perfect size for a small area such as a cubicle. Since I know the three other co-workers in my section of the office hate working in the cold all day as much as I do and since the new desktop heater that Twin-Star generously provided me with warms up to 400 square feet, I thought instead of sitting it in my own cubicle I'd sit it on a file cabinet at an empty cubicle to share the warmth with my co-workers whenever our office got cold. One morning when I came into work, the office was around 65-66 degrees so instead of fighting with the thermostat, I decided it was the perfect time to use my new desktop heater. I set the heater on the high setting and within about 10 minutes our section was noticeably a couple degrees warmer and after a couple of hours my entire section of the office was nice and toasty so I turned it on the low setting. Being warm and cozy made my co-workers and I very happy, which in turn made us more productive.

The Duraflame Ceramic Desktop Heater has a very sleek, modern look. It's lightweight and has a handle making it very easy to move when necessary. It also has an optional oscillating function which works great. You can hear it running but it's quite enough that it's not distracting. Even after being on for several hours, the steel grill was the only part of the heater that was even remotely warm to the touch, which is perfectly normal. The rest of the heater was normal temperature, making it safe to move even while on. In my opinion, the Duraflame Ceramic Desktop Heater is one small yet powerful heater. My co-workers and I are very impressed with this heater and very thankful for it as well. It heated up our relatively small space quickly and kept us comfortable throughout the entire work day. With the Duraflame Ceramic Desktop Heater now a part of our office, everyone can feel comfortable because those of us who like it on the warmer side will no longer have to touch the thermostat if it's too cold, we'll just simply have to turn on the heater so those that like the office a bit on the cooler side can still have it cool. It's a win-win for everyone!
