Disney Publishing Worldwide Releases Because I'm Your Dad By Ahmet Zappa

In Ahmet Zappa’s first picture book for children, Because I’m Your Dad, a dad like no other promises to give his kid a childhood like no other. Whimsical monster characters bring the silly and sweet scenes to life and keep the book universal. The book's ending, a moving tribute to the author's father, guarantees intergenerational appeal: “Because I'm your dad, I will do all of these things for you and more…because that's what my dad did for me.” Both a tribute to his happy childhood and a promise to his daughter, Halo, for a one-of-a-kind relationship, “I wrote this book for anyone who is a father, has a father, or hopes to someday be a father,” says Zappa. A perfect book to read on Father’s Day, or any day.

What I Thought
While my son isn't so small anymore at 13 years old, I did love reading to him when he was, and even though I'm his mom and not his dad, I would have loved to have read Because I'm Your Dad to him. It's a very cute children's book with cute, eye catching illustrations. When I read Because I'm Your Dad, I could just picture my son as a toddler, nestled up under my arm, while I read this to him. I have to admit that I got a little nostalgic reading this. It's a rather quick read so anytime your child wants this read to them, you should have no problems sparing the time. It would also be the perfect book for your child to read alone once they are able. The author stated that,  “I wrote this book for anyone who is a father, has a father, or hopes to someday be a father,” and I wholeheartedly agree. Father's Day is right around the corner and Because I'm Your Dad would make the perfect gift. I plan on giving my copy to one of my co-workers whose son is going to be a first time dad this year.

  1. I have a little Grandson and this would be perfect for him!!

I had no idea Frank Zappa had a son. Learn something new every day!

  2. I'm in the same boat. My son is 11 and I'm a Mom, not a Dad, but I look at books like this as potential "Dad training" because it's very likely someday my son will grow up to be a Dad. Since his Dad is not a daily presence in his life, I try to make sure there are still plenty of opportunities for my son to learn what it means to be a father, and how to think in a nurturing but still masculine way.

  3. Oh sweet, I can get something for my husband to read to my boys, they're the perfect age for this!
