Unstuffed Pepper Bake

I recently tried a new dish at a family dinner on Easter and loved it so much that I got the recipe and made it the next day for dinner. It was a huge hit with everyone, even the kids. It's has a very great flavor and makes a great side dish for almost any meal. Plus it's very quick and easy to make.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb. Ground Beef
  • 1-1/2 cups of Chopped Green and Red Peppers
  • 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. Ground Black Pepper
  • 14.5 oz. can Petite Diced Tomatoes
  • 1-1/2 cups Instant Brown or White Rice
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 package Italian Seasoning
  • 1 package Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 15 oz. can Tomato Sauce
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. In a large sauce pan, saute ground beef, onions, peppers and garlic powder until beef is browned and vegetables are tender. Drain off excess fat and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Stir in the tomatoes, rice, Worcestershire sauce and Italian seasoning. Remove from heat, and stir in 1 cup cheese.
  4. Spread mixture evenly into a 13 x 9 baking dish and top with tomato sauce and remaining cheese.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until heated through and cheese is melted and bubbly.
