GIANTmicrobes Rotavirus Plush Doll Review and Giveaway

Last month I told you about a great company called GIANTmicrobes, which is your number one source for all things microbial, whether it's educational or just for fun. I even had the opportunity to review a wonderful panorama featuring a Tick original doll and a Lyme Disease mini doll. This time around I was given the opportunity to review a Rotavirus original plush doll. You might be thinking to yourself that you've never heard of rotavirus but in fact rotavirus is just another name for the stomach flu so you've probably had it several times throughout your life. Rotavirus is the most common viral infection among young children and virtually all children will be infected with rotavirus by the age of 5. Symptoms of rotavirus can last up to 10 days and typically include vomiting, fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration. Rotavirus is the leading cause of death amount children in developing countries where proper treatment facilities are unreachable. A good way to prevent Rotavirus is to wash your hands frequently.

My son C is almost 13 years old and doesn't really play with toys anymore but the one thing he loves doing is playing ball, football, baseball, basketball, you name it. He even has a mini basketball hoop hanging on the closet door in his room that came with a mini basketball which has now lost most of its air. It turned out though that my son isn't too old for this Rotavirus plush toy. He loves science so he loved learning about rotavirus from the information provided on the tag. While the rotavirus plush is very soft and cuddly, he's also the perfect size to replace C's mini basketball. The rotavirus plush also seems to bounce somehow because when C misses a shot into the hoop and rotavirus hits the closet door instead, he bounces right back to him instead of falling onto the floor. We both think this is very cool. This just goes to show you that GIANTmicrobes are fun for everyone.
